British Judge to Burglars: Break Into a Gun Owner's Home, Expect to Get Shot

A judge in Great Britain has informed two career criminals that there would be no leniency in their sentences simply because they were both shot by the person they tried to rob.

The pair had broken into the rural home of businessman, Andy Ferrie, and his wife Tracey in August.   Andy shot both of them with his legally owned shotgun.   The Ferries were arrested and questioned for 40 hours following the incident and released without charges.

Judge Michael Pert QC, told the defendants, who had pleaded guilty: “If you burgle a house in the country where the householder owns a legally-held shotgun, that is the chance you take. You cannot come to court and ask for a lighter sentence because of it.”

The judge then pointed out that the 40-hour arrest of the Ferries was traumatizing for them as well.
